About Us
Mission Statement: Existing, solely, to protect the children of those who protect our American freedom.
Mission: Freedom’s Children is a foundation that exists to provide funds needed in order to aid issues faced by the children of wounded or fallen military.
Amy Assiter, founder of Mission: Freedom’s Children, is the sister, niece, child and grandchild of veterans—she is “Freedom’s Child.” Amy’s concern and love for the children of those who serve our country and sacrifice for our freedom led her to create “Mission: Freedom’s Children”. Thousands of American servicemen are coming home from Afghanistan and Iraq with a large range of injuries. Their children need our help in a variety of ways that are crucial to their acceptance of changes and hardships in their lives. This organization supports projects for the children of service members that have been wounded or killed in combat that provide education, healing and understanding. The mission epitomizes the founder’s belief that the injury or loss of a hero has a broad impact beyond that of the individual soldier.
The goals of Mission: Freedom’s Children are to:
LIVE: To provide support and education to the children of American service members seriously and fatally wounded veterans concerning quality of life issues.
LEARN: To provide support for patriotic programs and educational opportunities that address issues for the children of wounded or deceased soldiers.
LOVE: To provide efforts to show the children of fallen and wounded heroes that their parent’s service was not in vain and to instill a sense of pride and camaraderie with children facing the same issues.
LEGACY: To develop a living legacy for the children in honor of their parent’s military service.
This foundation was created as a way to thank the families of these soldiers, for the sacrifices they have made, through the support of programs to make those sacrifices easier to understand and accept. Mission: Freedom’s Children is dedicated to enhance quality of life for the children of US Service Members who have been adversely affected by an injury or death of a parent in the line of duty. This organization hopes to ensure that the sacrifices of the wounded and fallen soldiers are never forgotten. The focus of the foundation is to provide the support and education necessary to help the children of these American heroes cope with the changes they must now endure. The children and families have made huge sacrifices for the freedoms we all enjoy.
The desire of Mission: Freedom’s Children is to provide a venue where supporters feel confident that their donations are actually going to help those most in need. Mission: Freedom’s Children has been designated a Domestic Nonprofit Corporation by the Secretary of State of the state of Texas. Filing for 501c3 nonprofit certification is in process and expected prior to the end of 2011. Programs and grants are made possible solely by the generous support of donors. Mission: Freedom’s Children receives no federal, state or governmental support or funding.
